My name is Tyra Haynes and I am recent graduate from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Technology. I was introduced to the tech field through Girls Who Code in their summer immersion program as a participant at AT&T. Since then my critical thinking, endurance, and being inquisitive has lead my to cybersecurity.

Summer Immersion Program Participant @ AT&T

Selected for a computer science training program and learned HTML, CSS, Python, and Django and built an online website portfolio w/HTML. Attended training sessions at companies like Digital Ventures and Fullscreen Media and also presented Teen Connectory website to AT&T software engineers.

NexSecure

Designed and implemented a secure network infrastructure with VLAN segmentation and ACL-based access control. Configured routers, switches, and firewalls to meet compliance standards.

Project 2

AWS-Hosted Web Application

Deployed a secure, scalable web app using AWS EC2, S3, and RDS. Implemented encryption, load balancing, and auto-scaling.

Volunteer Work

ALA California Girls State – Delegate & Volunteer Counselor

  • Delegate (June 2018): Selected to represent District 24 Unit 283 at a civic engagement program with 500+ participants statewide.
  • Counselor (Summer 2024–Present): Mentored a group of 26 high school girls through a weeklong government simulation program.
  • Program Support: Facilitated daily activities including elections, legislative sessions, and leadership workshops; ensured a safe, supportive environment for all delegates.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Worked closely with fellow counselors and staff to manage logistics and create a positive experience for 500+ participants.

ALA California Girls State – 3-Year Committee Member (Aug 2025 – Present)

  • Term: Serving a 3-year term (First Year: Aug 2025 – Present).
  • Leadership Roles: Head candidate recruitment and fundraising teams; assist in reviewing applications, reports, and program elements.
  • Meetings & Planning: Participate in committee meetings (Zoom, mid-year, pre-convention, and convention) covering budgets, session locations, IT, awards, and city liaison duties.
  • Summer Program Attendance: Serve as City Liaison, complete assigned duties, and provide constructive suggestions for program improvement during the 7-day summer session.
